John Warren, the owner shared the story of his most recent job, assisting a UK ship-manager to bring  a pair of reefer vessels back into operation after their four year lay-up in the Far East.

“No maintenance had been carried out during that period, and a major UK based ship owner/manager bought them and resurrected them for trading.

Salt water contamination of the cooling system had caused major problems with the central cooling system.

Premier Separator Services Ltd were asked to organise the overhaul of all plate coolers, evaporators & oil separators.

Over 1,000 plates on each ship were removed, cleaned, crack tested and regasketed over a ten day period before being refitted.

New plates were fitted into 10 plate heaters which had been badly affected by chloride attack due to salt water contamination of the central cooling system

Our Company  carried out the overhaul of 18 separators of various sizes. Many of the separators had seen better days and major damage and corrosion had taken place.  Parts had been stripped off and canibalised to keep other units operating. Salt water had contaminated some of the control panels.

After 5 weeks work the first ship sailed with the second ship following a week later. Mission accomplished”.
